United Continental Holdings Inc (NYSE:UAL) extends support to stranded Filipinos

Dallas, Texas 11/12/2013 (Financialstrend) – United Continental Holdings Inc (NYSE:UAL) had some disappointing numbers at the end of trading day on Nov 11. The prices have typically ranged between $34.96 and $35.59. It has also seen a 52-week average which ranges between high $19.20 and $36.80. The market capital for UAL is currently at 12.78 billion.

United Continental Holding Inc, was earlier the UAL Corporation and the holding company. Currently, the company operates via subsidiaries Continental Airlines Inc (NASDAQ:UAUA) as well as another subsidiary united Air Lines, Inc.

Post the Philippines typhoon crisis, United Air Lines has announced that along with AmeriCares and the American Red Cross, it will offer aid to affected Filipinos.

Through the United Airlines Foundation, it will donate as much as $50,000. It will also extend as a bonus, all MileagePlus members a single-time mileage bonus, which has made contributions to the fund.

Comparatively, United will offer 5 million miles towards the initiative.

Accordingly, MileagePlus members making contributions in the range of $55 to $99 will receive 250 bonus miles. For those members who offer more- $100 to $249 the bonus miles will number 500, while  $250and more contributions will mean 1,000 and more miles for the member.

United Airlines is offers frequent flights out of Philippines and other six continents. Announcing United Airlines support to people of Philippines, the Senior Vice President of the Corporate as well as Government Affairs, Mark Anderson, said that, “Our hearts go out to the people in the Philippines as they recover from this devastation.”

United Airlines commented that the gesture by its employees to contribute to the Fund for Philippines disaster is laudable and it has made it support for their efforts as well as member contributors. United Airlines executives believe that offering member flying miles was their way of appreciation members who have made the effort to extend a helping hand.
