Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has launched a $15 Ethernet adaptor for the Chromecast. The Ethernet adapter promises to solve WiFi connectivity issues which are often experienced when streaming. The Ethernet adapter has one USB port and a power supply of 10/Mbps, an Ethernet port and a USB cable. The device works by jamming the Ethernet port into the Chromecast cable.
Google Chromecast is a wireless media streaming device that streams or plays contents on HDTV sets via WiFi connections. The device is plugged into the HDMI port of TV. It’s compatible with an Android phone, iPad, iPhone, Tablet, Mac and Windows computer. Chromecast device works with Apps such as You-tube, Netflix, Google player, Hulu Plus, and Vevo among others.
The device only works in homes where there is robust WiFi internet connectivity, a router an the Ethernet port have to be near your TV for it to work efficiently, if not well placed it may lead to bad streaming experiences which is a common issue to some people. So the TV has to be always in range. The Ethernet adapter should be connected to the router for wireless connectivity. The device works by adding Ethernet connectivity to the Chromecast.
The device is currently available in Google Hardware store as an Ethernet Adapter for Chromecast but currently listed as out of stock and the company is yet to disclose when the new stocks for the Ethernet Adapter for Chromecast will be available. The Ethernet Adapter for Chromecast is currently available only in the US though visitors to the country can be able to use its UK version.
